Sonic returns… properly this time
A lot of you have heard about Project Needlemouse. Well Early this morning, Sega announced what it is all about.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4! Hellz yeah. Your old school 2D Sonic game that we haven’t seen since the Genesis days! Sonic is back and his retarded friends aren’t along for the ride this time.
In an interview with Gamespot, Sega’s Ken Balough said that “Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has been a game classic Sega fans have always wanted to see.” Damn right Ken. Thank you very much.
Sonic 4 will be making it’s way onto all 3 home consoles. The Wii will play the game in 480p and have some waggle control involved. The PS3 and 360 will run in 1080p (SWEET!) and the PS3 version will have some SIXAXIS control as well. Not sure why they are adding motion control to a Sonic game, but whatever. As long as I can turn that crap off.
The title will also be episodic and downloadable. When asked about why they did this, Balough said making it downloadable was a way to “offer players a chance to play terrific games without breaking the bank,” and making it episodic was to complete a larger story in the same vain as when “Sega released Sonic 3, ultimately it was the part 1 of a story that saw its conclusion in Sonic & Knuckles.

I’m pretty damn stoked about this! I almost want to get the 360 version just because I know it won’t have any of that retarded waggle crap. BUT, if that junk can be turned off, then I’ll pick up the PS3 version for the superior D-pad.
Curious if there will be any sort of leaderboard setup for speed runs, ring scores, etc…

Does anyone know if any sonic games(GOOD sonic games) are available for download on PSN? I’d like to get acquainted with the series as I only had a NES and a SNES growing up.
People seem to be really down on this game. Its pedigree, developer and publisher are being called into question for making crap 3D games. To them I would like to say: ITS IN 2D. The way sonic is meant to be played!!
