EA Shutting Down servers for several sports games

Bad news to some, “whoooo gives a shit” to others, but either way EA has announced that starting this Feb 2010, they will be shutting down many of their online servers.

Games that will be affected are as follows:

UEFA Champions League 07 (PC and 360)
Facebreaker (360 and PS3)
Fantasy Football 09 (360 and PS3)
FIFA 07 (PSP, PS2 and PC)
Fight Night Round 3 (PS2)
Madden 08 (Wii, PC)
Madden 09 (Wii, PSP, 360 and PS3)
March Madness 07 (360)
NBA 07 (PSP, 360)
NBA 08 (PS2, PSP, Wii)
NBA 09 (Wii eur only)
NBA Street 07 (360 and PS3)
NCAA Football 08/09 (PS2)
NASCAR 08/09 (PS2, 360 and PS3)
NFL Tour (360 PS3)
NHL 07 (PSP and 360)
NHL 08 (PC)
Tiger Woods 07 (PC)

I’m sure EA has been monitoring those servers for quite some time and understand that people aren’t really playing them as much, but that being said it is kind of surprising that they would cut off Madden 09, considering Madden 10 has not sold as well……oh wait, is it? Hmmm…
